Cal Crutchlow made an encouraging start on the opening day of free practice for the Grand Prix of Aragon on Friday. The LCR Honda CASTROL rider endured a frustrating time at Misano last time out, but was back amongst the pacesetters at the MotorLand Aragon circuit. Although he was only able to post the 15th quickest time in FP1, the Briton found much better rhythm as the day progressed. He improved by nearly a second and a half in FP2 to take seventh place on the timesheets and leave himself well positioned to secure a spot in Q2 with rain predicted on Saturday morning.

“I feel a bit better this weekend, just simply because we’re turning the bike with the throttle and able to steer around the corner. I feel confident, comfortable on the bike, I don’t feel fantastic in the turning of the bike still, especially here with a lot of the faster corners, I’m losing a lot in sector one, even compared to Taka (Nakagami) who’s on last year’s bike. But I’m optimistic and we’ll see if we can improve for tomorrow and I’m optimistic about getting a good result this weekend.”
