Cal Crutchlow had to settle for 11th place in Sunday’s Grand Prix of Teruel at the MotorLand Aragon circuit. In sunny, clear conditions in north-east Spain, the LCR Honda CASTROL rider was unable to find the rhythm he’d demonstrated during free practice and qualifying and was ultimately denied a top-10 finish on the line. Departing from seventh on the grid, the Briton lost some places from the start and was lapping in tenth in the early stages. He battled hard throughout, but was couldn’t climb back through the field and was edged out for tenth at the chequered flag by Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci.

“Today wasn’t a good day, finishing outside the top 10. Our main issue was the rear tyre, we chose a soft rear tyre and had great grip at the start of the race, but when I got passed, it became quite apparent that on the exit of a corner that my competitors had a lot more rear grip and I was unable to continue to improve and be fast.”
